How Credits Work — Translayer Help

What Are Credits?

Credits are the currency you use to translate pages in Translayer. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance — think of them as pre-paid translation slots. One credit equals one page translated at the base settings (Fast mode, 1K resolution).

How Credits Are Calculated

The cost per page depends on two factors: translation mode and resolution. These multiply together:

Translation mode multiplier:

Fast — 1x
Standard — 2x
Advanced — 3x

Resolution multiplier:

1K — 1x
2K — 2x
4K — 4x

Formula: credits = pages x mode multiplier x resolution multiplier

Examples:

10 pages, Fast mode, 1K resolution = 10 credits
10 pages, Standard mode, 2K resolution = 40 credits (10 x 2 x 2)
10 pages, Advanced mode, 4K resolution = 120 credits (10 x 3 x 4)

When Are Credits Deducted?

Credits are deducted when you start a translation job, not when you download results. If a translation fails due to a processing error on our side, the credits are automatically refunded to your account.

Credits are not refunded if:

The source image is too blurry or corrupted to process
You cancel a job mid-translation (completed pages still count)

Credits reset on your billing date each month. Unused credits do not roll over.

Tips to Stretch Your Credits

Start with Fast + 1K to preview results before committing to higher settings
Use Standard mode for most production work — Advanced is only needed for the trickiest pages
Skip blank pages, title pages, and separator pages that don’t need translation
Choose 2K resolution unless you specifically need print-quality 4K output

Checking Your Balance

View your remaining credits anytime at /dashboard/billing. You’ll also see a credit estimate before starting each translation job, so there are no surprises.
