Data Privacy and File Retention
How Translayer handles your uploaded files, GDPR compliance, encryption, and automatic deletion policies.
Our Privacy Commitment
Translayer processes sensitive content — books, legal documents, unpublished manuscripts, proprietary materials. We take data handling seriously and designed the platform with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.
Automatic File Deletion
All uploaded source images and translated output files are automatically deleted after your plan’s retention window:

Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once the retention window passes, your files cannot be recovered by anyone — including us. Download your results before the window closes.
No AI Training on Your Data
Your uploaded content is never used to train AI models. Pages are processed through Google Gemini for translation and immediately discarded from the AI pipeline. Your books, manuscripts, and documents remain yours.
GDPR Compliance
Translayer is operated by a company registered in Poland (EU) and fully complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right to access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to deletion — request complete removal of your account and all associated data
- Right to portability — export your data in a standard format
- Data minimization — we collect only what’s necessary to provide the service
- Lawful basis — we process data based on contract performance (your subscription) and legitimate interest

Encryption
- In transit: All data between your browser and Translayer servers is encrypted via TLS 1.3 (HTTPS)
- At rest: Uploaded files are stored with server-side encryption during the retention period
- Authentication: Handled by Firebase Authentication (Google infrastructure) with industry-standard security
What We Store
We do store:
- Your account information (email, name, plan details)
- Translation job metadata (languages, modes, page counts, timestamps)
- Billing information (managed securely by Stripe — we never see your full card number)
We do not store:
- Your uploaded images beyond the retention window
- Translated output beyond the retention window
- Content of your pages in any database or log
Account Deletion
You can delete your Translayer account at any time from /dashboard/settings. Account deletion:
- Immediately removes all stored files
- Cancels any active subscription
- Deletes your personal data from our systems within 30 days
- Is irreversible — you would need to create a new account to use Translayer again
