Managing Your Subscription

How to upgrade, downgrade, cancel your plan, switch between monthly and annual billing, and access the billing portal.

Viewing Your Current Plan

Go to /dashboard/billing to see your active plan, remaining credits, next billing date, and payment method. All subscription management happens from this page.

Upgrading Your Plan

Need more credits or access to premium features like 4K resolution and custom prompts?

  1. Visit /dashboard/billing
  2. Click Upgrade next to a higher-tier plan
  3. Confirm your selection in the Stripe billing portal

Upgrades take effect immediately. You’ll receive a prorated credit for the unused portion of your current plan, applied toward the new plan’s cost. Your additional credits are available right away.

Downgrading Your Plan

  1. Visit /dashboard/billing
  2. Click Change Plan and select a lower tier
  3. Confirm in the billing portal

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to your current plan’s features and credits until then. On your next billing date, you’ll switch to the lower plan’s allowance and pricing.

Monthly vs. Annual Billing

Annual billing saves approximately 20% compared to paying monthly. To switch:

  1. Go to /dashboard/billing
  2. Click Switch to Annual (or Switch to Monthly)
  3. Confirm the change in the billing portal

When switching from monthly to annual, you’ll be charged the annual rate immediately with a prorated credit for any remaining monthly balance.

Canceling Your Subscription

  1. Go to /dashboard/billing
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm cancellation in the billing portal

After canceling:

  • You keep access through the end of your paid period
  • Remaining credits stay available until the period ends
  • Your account reverts to the Free plan (10 credits/month)
  • Your translation history and account settings are preserved

Billing Portal

Translayer uses Stripe for secure payment processing. From the billing portal you can:

  • Update your credit card or payment method
  • Download invoices and receipts
  • View your complete billing history
  • Update billing email and address

Access the full Stripe portal from /dashboard/billing by clicking Manage Billing.

Common Questions

Will I lose my translations if I downgrade? No. Your existing translations remain accessible for the retention window of your previous plan. New translations follow your new plan’s retention policy.

Can I switch plans mid-cycle? Yes. Upgrades are immediate with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at your next billing date.

What happens if I run out of credits? You can purchase a one-time credit pack from the billing page, or upgrade to a higher plan for a larger monthly allowance.
